Volvo 1800S  1963
Id: 1164
Chassis: 7176

This P 1800 was purchased by my father new in 1963.  I personally picked the car up in Norway in July of 1963.  The origional color was gray but the car was repainted to the existing black.  My father drove the car until he gave it back to me in 1997.  You will notice that the rear fins have been slightly modified by lowering them and removing the chrome trim on the top.  The chrome wire wheels were added on and custom made by the Dayton Wheel company at a cost of $1,100 in 1964.  They are actual knock off hubs.  The car is mechanically origional, the engine and transmission have not been rebuilt.  The overdrive works fine, as well as the instrumentaion.  The clock does not work.  Front and rear shocks have been replaced, but the suspension is origional.

In the last two years I have had the clutch plate replaced and the rear main seal replaced.  I also have had the rocker panel on the drivers side replaced due to rust and the cross struts on the undercarriage replaced as well as some other small rust spots on the lower portion of the body repaired from rusting.  At the time of the body work I replaced the rubber around the doors and hood, and I have the rubber kit for the windows, but have waited until the car is totally repainted to replace them.  There is a small spot of rust on the top of the hood, but I am not aware of any other rust areas on the car.

The interior head liner is new as well as the upper dash.  The lower dash is origional.  Door panels and rear seats are the origional but need to be recovered.  The front seats are fabric with no tares, and the carpet has been replaced.
