Beginning in 1987 mister H.C. van der Velde from Amsterdam produced 1:22 scale metal models of the 1800 ES and called them Bumper. Available as ready made miniatures or as kits these very heavy Volvos came with a certificate showing the individual number and colour of the car. These individual numbers are engraved into the bottom plates, too.

The first ES are fitted with other undersides and with the frontgrille, headlights and indicators integrated in the car body, later model cars have better formed metal parts for that. Front and side windows are made with one clear and thin plastic foil, the rear window is produced as extra part. The first interiors are made in one piece with hard foam material, the later and more precise ones are plastic. More metal parts as the steering wheel, the bumpers, wheels, rear window handle and hinges complete this Bumper 1800 ES. The tyres are made of rubber.

In 1995 a Volvo 1800 E ready made miniature or even kit was available too. The undersides of both types are marked Bumper, 1800 E or 1800 ES, and all cars came with their individual number engraved.
