During the sixties Lone Star produced interesting copies of the Volvo P 1800 in 1:58 scale. These miniatures are fitted with opening doors, boot and bonnet, with suspension, axial steering and jewelled headlights. The front and rear window are clear plastic, the side windows are open. The frontgrille and the bumpers are silver sprayed. The silver underside has one rivet and is marked: Road-Master "Impy" Super Cars, Volvo 1800 S, scale model, Lone Star, made in England. Only light external colours have been available as different beige versions, and colours between lightgrey and lightblue. Some collectors call them white too. Internal colours for the plastic interiors with steering wheel and seats are green, blue, red and orange. There are two versions of the black plastic tyres. Smaller, smoother ones and others with more tread looking as winter tyres or snow tyres. Lone Star Impy Volvos came in blue/red/yellow printed paper boxes usually with a window and rarer without. These nice boxes are marked: Roadmaster Impy Super Cars or Lone Star Impy Super Cars, no.19 Volvo 1800 S, both showing all features of the Impys and more available model types. Additional exists a very rare Lone Star Impy blistercard. There have been other boxes and blistercards for Lone Star Impys too, called Mini Mite or Pee Wee. You will find them on another page of this gallery. Peter 13/03/06
