During nearly 30 years of production the Portuguese manufacturer Metosul sold a lot of different colour versions of Volvos early P 1800 type with front and rear cowhorn bumpers and the "V" in the grille. The car bodies and bottom plates of these 1:43 scale metal made miniatures are very similar to the Tekno production, but they aren't copies of them. Body and underside are metal, wheels, bumpers and front grille are chromed metal while the headlights are chromed plastic. They have clear windows and interiors in eight different colours with separate coloured steering wheels. The bottom plate have rivets and is marked with "Metosul, Portugal, Volvo 1800".

The early Metosul versions of the sixties usually have darkblue, darkgreen, dark bluegreen, dark greengrey, olivegreen or similar coloured bottom plates. The wheels are mostly closed and wear grooves, later on Metosul used wheels with ventilation holes. The air intake, the front Volvo emblem and the door and boot handles of the earlier versions are silver painted while later versions aren't. The rear lights are two-tone painted red and orange and at the sides on the mudguards they have a long and thick silver painted but incorrect trim.

The miniatures of the eighties and early nineties haven't these silver painted features and all of them have black painted undersides and red painted rearlights only. They still roll on the wheels with the holes but later on a third type of silvery metal wheels, now absoloutely plain and smooth, has been available, too.

During the total time of production Metosul produced different versions of Police cars too. White coloured Portuguese "Brigada Transito GNR" cars with antenna and bluelights, black and white Swedish Polis versions with bluelights with and without antenna, darkblue French Police cars with antenna and either with blue or with yellowlights on the roof, rare darkblue and white or grey "Policia" versions and probably other Police versions of other countries too. Even a darkred fire brigade car called "Bombeiros" has been sold.

The first nice blue/red/white/yellow coloured boxes show a drawn red P 1800 and they are marked: Volvo 1800, Metosul, marca registrada.

All later boxes are yellow, usually with a window, rarely without. The most of these yellow Metosul boxes came without a drawing of the Volvo while the yellow box with a black and white drawing of the P 1800 is extremely rare. This box is marked Metosul too, but smaller than on the others and additional it's marked with "Fabricado em Portugal, Luso Celuloide, Espinho - Portugal".
