After some years of production and after having changed the cowhorn bumpered Volvo P 1800 to the new Volvo 1800 S with straight front bumper, Norev decided to sell a low price version without interiors and without windows additionally to the others with seats and windows.

That was the only difference and all other parts and engravings on bottom plate still took place again.

Officially they called them "serie B", but most people used to say "Baby Norev" or "Serie Bebé" in France.

Presumably these cheaper Norevs have been sold in nice boxes looking like wooden dispatch boxes.

At the end of the Norev Volvo 1800 S production in the early seventies the manufacturer used another plastic material for their miniatures. The first Baby Norevs are made by the same plastic as all the other Norevs with screens have been produced before, but the last Baby Norevs are manufactured by a harder plastik and their chassis are 3 mm longer than the chassis or the older ones.

It is not probably that the manufacturer has changed the matrix, may be that - cooling down - the material have had another reaction. The bottom plates still have the same length as the older productions.

The last Baby Norevs have been available in nice blue & yellow coloured boxes with a racing chequered flag design and with text: Norev, Volvo P 1800 No.44, serie B.

One flap of this box was a ticket to participate on "Grand Rallye de Norev" in 1973, whatever that means.

Round about 25 years after the end of production Norev edited a new and improved Volvo 1800 S miniature in their Norev collection series. You will find it on another page in our gallery.
