The "Beach Car" |
Two ES prototypes were constructed from finished coupes removed from production. The first built on chassis number 26142 by the Italian firm Coggiola was called the “Beach Car”. A number of elements in the beach car were not carried over to the final production ES's. For instance, the beach car's seat material was done in light brown velour. The rear seat was also larger than the production ES and had two large storage boxes forward of each wheel well. Also not present on the final ES and a unique part of the beach car were swiveling quarter-windows located above the rear wheel. These widows swiveled open on each side of the tail gate (source "Swedish Iron") This car is still running somewhere in Germany (Read more about that in Swedish) |
