Find the chassis number
The chassis number is the last digits on the VIN. It is stamped on the car on different locations depending on model,  model year and sometimes market.
Here is a guide to help you find the number.
 
P1800 Ch # 1 to approximately Ch # 1000 ONLY on the ID Plate
 
P1800 from approximately ch # 1000 to ch # 6000 and 1800S from ch # 6001 to ch ch #20999  BOTH on the ID plate AND above the battery. (see photos above and below)
 
1800S from ch# 21000 to ch#29979 ONLY above the battery (see photo above) 
 
1800E year 1971-1972 and 1800ES 1972  On passenger side of radiator support to the right of the hood hinge on the flat area (see picture below)
 
1800ES 1973 and some late 1972 On the right hand side A-pillar (see picture below) 
 
 
1800E, 1800ES and some late 1800S (1969) on the US market have the VIN stamped on a plate inside the windscreen in addition to the number stamped in the engine compartment or A-pillar.(see picture below)
