In the year 1969 the English manufacturer Corgi Toys started their production of a Whizzwheels version of the white coloured 1:46 scale die-cast "The Saint's Volvo" too. They used the well known normal versions bodywork and created a new grey bottom plate with wide plastic wheels instead of the rubber tyres. The undersides are marked: made in Gt. Britain, Corgi Toys Whizzwheels, Volvo P. 1800, Pat. App. 3396/69. All these Whizzwheels have the red sticker with the white Saint logo on the bonnet as the last normal versions did too, but now the internal colour was yellow instead of red. The driver figure was still sitting behind the grey steering wheel. Two slightly different wheel versions are fitted. Black wide plastic tyres manufactured in one piece with a silver painted wheels design usually showing 8 holes and rarer with 8 spokes - 4 bigger and 4 smaller ones. The now bigger and red/yellow printed box has a window to let you see the car inside and on the other side a nice drawing of a light grey P 1800 with red bonnet and white Saint logo driving speedy through a curve. This nice box is marked: Corgi Toys Volvo P.1800 the "Saint's" car, Whizzwheels, Die-cast scale model with jewelled headlights, driver and spring suspension. The underside of this box shows the Saint logo and the text: "The Saint", registered user the Mettoy Co. Ltd., made in Great Britain, Playcraft Toys Limited, London. Peter 26/02/06
