The "Rocket"

Two ES prototypes were constructed from finished coupes removed from production. The first built on chassis number 26142 by the Italian firm Coggiola was called the “Beach Car”. The second coupe pulled from the production line was 26143 and went on to Frua for prototyping. It was nicknamed the "Rocket" because of it’s oval shaped tail section. It was originally white and repainted gold by Frau. The car is currently painted Metallic Blue and can be seen in the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg, Sweden.
