Up to and including 1977, paint codes were numbered after introduction into production, i.e. -1 is the first supplier -2 is the second supplier and so on. From 1978, code numbers were changed so that each supplier was given numbers as follows:
-1=Glasurit (BASF)
-2=Herbert’s
-3=Beckers
-4=ICI
-5=SIKKENS (AKZO)
-6=Lewis
-7=Sigma
